FAQ’s

Who runs the ice rink?

The Pagosa Multi Purpose Pavilion (PMPP) is fully organized, staffed, and maintained by volunteers. Our board and community members contribute over 2500 person hours each operational year in order to make the rink happen.

  • How many people use the rink?

Each year, there are between 3500-4000 visits to the PMPP between skaters and spectators, under our current limited opening schedule. With a roof, and an expanded season, we anticipate a significant increase in usage.

  • How is the project funded?

The PMPP is funded from a variety of sources. All revenue earned from skating operations is invested back into the PMPP.  Additional funds are generated by dasher board sponsorships from local businesses, charitable donations, and contributions from local area town and county government.

  • What happens to my donation if the new pavilion doesn’t get built?

In the event that our fundraising efforts are unsuccessful, all donations will be returned to the contributing parties. As a recognized 501c3 organization, there are laws regarding the proper handling and use of contributions in order to protect our donors.

  • Who will be able to use the pavilion?

During the off season from skating, the pavilion will be available for public use. With an area of 35,000 square feet, a large variety of events can be accommodated, providing covered space regardless of weather conditions.

  • I want to help, how can I get involved with the project?

The PMPP is always looking for additional support. Whether your interest is in volunteering time at the rink, a skilled service, or organizational support we would be happy to speak with you about assisting the PMPP’s goal. Call or email us for more information.
